“Calculation of carter factor for an ideal rectangular slot by FEM”

Description:

During this project we calculated carter factor for an ideal rectangular slot. We applied proper boundary conditions and calculated reluctance of air gap using field quantities. Finally we compared results with analytic formula:
Kcs = 1/(1+5*g/ws)

The procedure that we followed through this project is general and can be used for any arbitrary slot shape. The below figure shows the flux lines:
